Working in an employability team I get some great insight into the best hint and tips for getting jobs, so here are my top 5 best tips for interviews!
1. Look At The Job Description
The job description will outline exactly what characteristics the company is looking for and that is most likely what they’ll base their interview on. It seems like common sense but really analyse what they are asking for and think of how you can match those requirements. Also, company websites often highlight hints and tips for the interview process so it’s work checking out.
2. Do Your Research
Being able to show a genuine interest and knowledge of the industry you’re interested in is a great way to impress employers. More specifically if you can demonstrate an understanding of the company’s history or set up then it will again show employers that you have gone the extra mile.
3. Look in the news
Similarly to industry research it is important to also be aware of things going on in the world generally. Business is hugely influenced by what’s going on in the rest fo the world, whether it’s the economy, popular trend or international relationships, businesses are influenced by all of these external factors.
First impressions count so show that you’re a happy, friendly and enthusiastic person. Even if you’re doing a telephone interview smiling will makes your voice sound more appealing and come across more friendly.
5. Confidence is Key
Even if you have to fake it till you make it, try your best to come across confident. Dress in a way that makes you feel good (but also looks professional) and remember that you have just as good a shot as anyone else, so make the most of it!
