10 Films To Look Forward To In 2019!

January 6, 2019

Here are some of my top picks for films coming out in 2019!

Lego Movie 2 – 8th February

Starting strong early in the year we have the second Lego Movie, if you haven’t seen the first film or any of the other Lego movies (Lego Batman & Lego Ninjago) then I recommend you catch up.  It might look like a kids film but they’re is some great humour that can be appreciated by adults and children alike.

1

Captain Marvel – 8th March

If you are a fan of the Marvel movie franchise I’m sure you will be fully aware of the next instalment in the series – Captain Marvel! After the teaser at the end of Infinity War this film has been highly anticipated and I am thoroughly looking forward to it!

2

Shazam! – 5th April

Another superhero movie, this time from the DC universe. Without going into too much detail the storyline for Shazam is that a boy finds himself with the ability to not only turn into an adult but also a superhero. Having the responsibilities of a superhero through the perspective of a child definitely has the potential for a lot of laughs.

3

Avengers: Endgame – 26th April

As I mentioned before, another Marvel instalment. After Avengers: Infinity War’s cliffhanger ending everyone is pretty eager to find out how the universe is going to work itself out and bring back all of our favourite characters!

4

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu – 10th May

Not only is a movie about Pokémon and more specifically Pikachu going to be hugely popular all over the world, with the pairing of Ryan Reynolds as the beloved and adorable animated lead you can expect his great sense of humour to come through, potentially showing the franchise in a new light.

5

Aladdin – 24th May

This is another year full of Disney’s live action adaptations! After Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book (to name just a couple) we now have the live action Aladdin! We’ll have to see if it follows the original storyline or has been updated fully, however, I am excited to see Will Smith’s adaptation of the genie.

6

Men In Black International – 14th June

When I first saw this I wasn’t sure if a Men In Black without Will Smith was a good idea at all but having seen the trailer I can now say I am really looking forward to it. I’m excited to see how Chris Hemsworth and Liam Neeson’s characters compare to the original movies but I am still hoping for a Will Smith cameo at some point.

7

Toy Story 4 – 21st June

Not a lot has been given away about the storyline for this so far but I hope it can keep up with the first 3 films and doesn’t disappoint. After the pretty clear conclusion in the 3rd film I honestly can’t think of a solid premise for this unless they plan to continue to franchise forever by continually passing the toys on from child to child? However, I am optimistic nonetheless that it will be another successful instalment.

8

Spider-Man: Far From Home – 5th July

We’re back to Marvel again (I am a fan if you can’t tell), not much has really been given away about this film and I don’t imagine there will be until Avengers: End Game clarifies a few details about how exactly Spider-man has a second film…?

The Lion King – 19th July

And finally, possibly one of the films I am most looking forward to is the live action remake of The Lion King! There are some big names on board including: Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen and the return of James Earl Jones from the original, along with many more so with that strong of a cast I am extremely excited! The only thing I can hope for is that we see (and hear) the return of some of the iconic songs from the original film!
